2015-16 Mallee Biodiversity Grants Program

The Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) has grants available for community-based groups to protect biodiversity values within the Mallee CMA region.

Funding is available in both targeted areas and the whole of region, groups wishing to apply for funding must fill in a brief application form. 

The Mallee Biodiversity Grants Program is supported by the Mallee CMA,through funding from the Australian Government's National Landcare Programme.

Closing date for all applications is Friday 9 October 2015.

Whole of region Grants

Whole of region grants are available to community groups to undertake on ground works to protect and enhance biodiversity values. 

The following activities are eligible for funding:

  • Pest plant and animal control;
  • Native vegetation protection, restoration and/or enhancement. 

Projects may also include:

  • Capacity building activities/events where they are linked to the environmental issues listed above.

Targeted Grants

Targeted grants are available to community groups to undertake on-ground works to protect and enhance nationally significant communities and species within the Wathe and Avoca target areas.

The following activities are eligible for funding:

  • Pest plant and rabbit control;
  • Revegetation with native species; and
  • Fencing of native habitat that is under threat from grazing pressure.

The Wathe target area includes, Baring, Patchewollock, Dattuck, Wathe, Gama, Wirrabibial and Wyperfeld. To see a map of the Wathe target area click here.

The Avoca target area includes Birchip, Sea Lake, Lake Tyrrell, Wahpool, Timboram and the Lalbert, Tyrrell and Dunnmunkle Creek systems. To see a map of the Avoca target area click here.
