Australian Government’s On Farm Irrigation Efficiency Program. - Registration closed

The Australian Government is seeking regional partners to deliver its On Farm Irrigation Efficiency Program. The Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA), in conjunction with Western Murray Irrigation Limited (WMI), is seeking input from the irrigation community regarding potential interest to participate in the program.

This program aims to support irrigators by providing financial incentives to undertake a broad range of on-farm works to generate water savings, which will be shared between participating irrigators and the environment. The minimum water savings required per farm project is 20 megalitres (ML), with 50% or 10 ML (which ever is the greater amount) being permanently transferred to the Australian Government.

The Mallee CMA is considering putting forward a proposal, in conjunction with WMI, to deliver this program, subject to an appropriate level of interest from irrigators.

Victorian and NSW Mallee irrigators from Euston to the SA border are invited to register their interest in this program by telephoning Glen Sutherland or Peter Middleton at the Mallee CMA on 03 5051 4377 by close of business on March 18, 2011.
