The grants are part of a $600,000 funding injection from the Victorian Government to help Landcare groups progress works aimed at protecting and enhancing natural resources.

The Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) region has been provided with $60,000 for groups to undertake small projects.

Mallee CMA Board Chairperson Sharyon Peart has urged local Landcare groups to take advantage of the funding available.

“These grants have been provided to recognise the important role Landcare provides in our community,” she said.

“The grants can fund projects to bring community members together and undertake on-ground works to improve the health of our land, water and biodiversity.”

Ms Peart said the grants could support a wide range of activities, such as community planting days, habitat restoration works or weed control activities.

“It’s important to remember that while these grants support on-ground activities, our local groups can also apply for funding for projects that incorporate commemorative activities that mark the 25th anniversary of Landcare, such as group histories, photographic displays and projects that will help engage our next generation of land carers in Landcare,” she said.
