Mallee CMA Chairperson and Chair of the Mallee RCS Steering Committee Sharyon Peart with the Draft 2012-18 Mallee RCS.

Under the Catchment and Land Protection Act (1994), each of Victoria’s ten (10) Catchment Management Authorities (CMAs) are required to manage the development of the RCS in consultation with regional stakeholders.

“This is the third Regional Catchment Strategy for Victoria’s Mallee,” Sharyon Peart, Mallee Catchment Management Authority’s Chairperson and Chair of the Mallee Regional Catchment Strategy Steering Committee said.

The RCS sets 20-year objectives and strategic actions that will occur over its six-year term. These objectives and actions will provide organisations, groups and individuals with a shared regional direction and enable local planning and action to occur in priority areas.

“Feedback from the community helps us make informed decisions about issues that are important to the region.” Ms Peart said.

“We encourage you to visit the RCS website at rcs.malleecma.vic.gov.au and have your say on the future management of our region’s unique natural, cultural and agricultural landscapes.

“The website also contains an interactive map on which you can identify locations which are important to you and your local community, assisting us to identify future project sites”, she said.

Copies of the Draft 2012-18 Mallee Regional Catchment Strategy are available on the website: rcs.malleecma.vic.gov.au or by request to Mallee CMA, Ph: 03 5051 4377 or email: rcs@malleecma.vic.gov.au
