Mallee Farmer

Edition 1 - August 2011

Continuing the tradition of providing local dryland farmers with important information on farming practices, research and trials, the first edition of the new-look Mallee Farmer includes information from a range of leading agricultural organisations including the the Department of Primary Industries (DPI), Birchip Cropping Group and Mallee Sustainable Farming.

The Mallee Farmer was produced by the DPI up until early 2009. The Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) this year identified the important role the newsletter played in informing farmers across the region and, with the help of partner agencies, will now produce the publication.

Utilising funding provided through the Australian Government’s Regional Landcare Facilitator program, the Authority will produce The Mallee Farmer in March and August each year and it will be available free of charge through the Mallee CMA or can be read on-line by clicking here.

Mallee CMA chairperson Sharyon Peart said readers can expect interesting content from many reputable sources from across the state.

“The Authority has had great support in producing this edition and it’s great to see so many organisations coming together to ensure we are delivering what the farmers want to know,” Ms. Peart said.

“This newsletter will be invaluable to farmers to keep them up to date on what they can expect to see happening across the region and how they can prepare for the coming season.”
