Mallee groups urged to apply for 2014-15 Victorian Landcare Grants Program

The Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) has received a $200,000 share of the Victorian Government’s Victorian Landcare Grants Program for this financial year.

The Victorian Government has provided the funding for local Landcare and community natural resource management groups to finance projects that will benefit the health of the region’s land, water and biodiversity.

“The grants program aims to provide funding for local groups to undertake
on-ground works that contribute to the improvement and protection of the region’s natural resources,” Mallee CMA Board Chairperson Sharyon Peart said.

“The funding encourages and assists groups to conduct capacity-building activities and on-ground works.”

Eligible projects include revegetation, erosion control, riparian and wetland restoration, salinity plantings, remnant protection works and invasive pest and plant control.

Bids will be competitively assessed against state and regional priorities Recipients must be incorporated, insured and not-for-profit community based natural resource management groups such as Landcare groups and networks, or “Friends Of” groups.

“We have more than 30 Landcare and Friends Of groups in our region, so this is a great opportunity for them to access some funding to do important, local projects,” Ms Peart said.

Applications must be received by the Mallee CMA by the close of business on
Friday, September 19, 2014.

More information and application forms are available from the Mallee CMA website at or by contacting Regional Landcare Coordinator Kevin Chaplin on 5051 4377.
