Blackwater in the Murray River

The blackwater event currently being seen in the Murray River is being experienced across the system in the lower basin. The Murray Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is co-ordinating the response to this event.

The Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is conducting regularly monitoring of water quality and providing data and information to the MDBA.

If people do see dead fish locally, they are encouraged to report the location to the Mallee CMA, which will feed this information back to the MDBA and Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).

To report fish deaths, contact the Mallee CMA on (03) 5051 4377; or at weekends or after hours on 0428 224 368.

Fish deaths can also be reported to the EPA Pollution Watch Line on 1800 444 004.
