Two new members appointed to Mallee CMA Board

TWO new appointments have been made to the Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) Board, with serving Chairperson Sharyon Peart to continue in the top job for another four years.

Dr John Cooke and Allison McTaggart will join the Mallee CMA Board, while John Arnold and Bruce Jones have been reappointed and Ms Peart will continue in the role of Chairperson until September 30, 2017.

“Both John and Allison are a great fit for the organisation and I think their skills will complement the depth of talent and expertise we have on the Mallee CMA Board,” Mallee CMA Chairperson Sharyon Peart said.

“Together with the reappointment of John Arnold and Bruce Jones, we have a strong Board that will continue the good work done to date to strategically deliver integrated and effective natural resource management in the Victorian Mallee.”

The Mallee CMA Board is a skills-based board responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation, together with the implementation and monitoring of the Mallee Regional Catchment Strategy and associated investment strategies and corporate governance.

The Board appointments were made by the Victorian Government as part of the regular state-wide Board appointment process.

Dr Cooke, Ms McTaggart, Mr Arnold and Mr Jones will serve on the Mallee CMA Board with Tony Martin, Eddie Lee, Geoff Anderson, Paul Grigg, and under the leadership of Ms Peart.

Ms Peart, who began as Chair of the Mallee CMA Board two years’ ago, says the leadership position has been both challenging and immensely rewarding.

“I am so pleased to be continuing in this role and I very much look forward to working with the new Board as we move forward to embrace new challenges and opportunities in natural resource management,” she said.

“I’d like to thank outgoing Board members Brian Englefield and Paula Gordon, both of whom have made a significant contribution to the Board in recent years,” Ms Peart said.

The new-look Mallee CMA Board will meet for the first time on October 23, 2013.
